DETROIT (WWJ) The City Clerk’s office expects voter turnout to slightly increase during the November election thanks to two new satellite locations.

Clerk Janice Winfrey said the locations are being opened for absentee ballot voters who don’t want to mail in their ballots, but would rather turn in their vote in person.

“At the Department of Elections in 2008, we serviced nearly 1,500 people per day two weeks prior to elections, we were all over the place, it was good that they were coming out, but it just wasn’t good for the voters in terms of being comfortable,” Winfrey said, explaining the need for the satellite locations.

Absentee ballot users in Detroit can vote in person at either the Wayne County Community College District Campus or at the Northwest Campus.
