Oakland County School Evacuated On Bomb Threat

OAKLAND COUNTY (CBS Detroit) Brandon High School in northern Oakland County was evacuated Thursday morning, reportedly after a bomb threat.

"As a precaution in response to a written threat found in the building today, we are going to evacuate the building momentarily," Principal Celeste Nowacki wrote on the school's website.

She added students were evacuated to the west end parking lot where they will be transported to Harvey Swanson's football field by bus, and later taken home by bus. Parents who wanted to pick up their students could do so at the Harvey-Swanson athletic complex.

"Again, this is a precautionary measure; we are working in conjunction with the Oakland County Sheriff's Department," she wrote.

A thorough sweep of the building was under way at 1 p.m. by Oakland County Sheriff's deputies.

Parent teacher conferences were delayed one hour by the investigation, pushed back to at least 4 p.m.
