DETROIT (WWJ) – The Detroit Tigers in the playoffs will mean an infusion of cash for businesses downtown.

Business owners like Chris Chelios, who owns Cheli’s Chili Bar, know that post-season play means more folks walking through the doors of businesses like his.

“It’s going to be a great … downtown hopefully a sign of things to come in the future … thank God for those Tigers, obviously what’s going on with the lockout in the NHL,” said Chelios.

The former Red Wing still works for the Wing’s in player development says he hopes the Tiger’s go far in the playoffs. He wouldn’t comment about the NHL lockout.
