Bloomfield Hills Man Charged In Alleged Assault, Abduction

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) – A Bloomfield Hills man faces felony charges after he allegedly tried to kidnap a 14-year-old girl in Royal Oak.

Investigators said the girl was walking last Saturday afternoon near Normandy and Tonawanda when 24-year-old Derek Wallin drove up in a silvery silver Chevy Camaro and offered her some marijuana and a ride.

She refused and kept walking.

A short time later, police said the teen was approached from behind by the Wallin who grabbed her, picked her up and fondled her. Police said when she screamed and struggled to free herself the suspect eventually dropped her and ran back to his vehicle.

Wallin was arrested after police tracked him through his vehicle registration. He was charged attempted kidnapping, criminal sexual conduct in the fourth degree.

Bond was set at $100,000 at his arraignment in 44th District Court on Monday.
