Three Degrees Of Pat Caputo: 3 Keys For The Tigers Vs. A's, Game 3 ALDS

By: Pat Caputo

1. Starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez must go at least six innings. Seven might be a stretch, especially considering Oakland compiled a 50-31 record at home this season. Sanchez's M.O. is that he is either really good or really bad, seldom in between. The Tigers need the good Anibal Sanchez to show up tonight.

2. Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder need to produce. Although Cabrera did have back-to-back doubles in Game 2, the A's pitching staff has done a good job of holding the Tigers' No. 3 and No. 4 hitters down. In that regard, the Tigers have kind of been living on borrowed time so far in the series because their lesser hitters have been making the primary contributions.

3. The bullpen has to pitch better. Having to depend so much on Phil Coke and Joaquin Benoit isn't exactly comforting to Tigers fans.
