Driver Killed When Car Crashes Into Walmart Store

STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) -  Sterling Heights police are trying to find out why a young man drove his car into a Walmart store early Monday morning. The 20-year old, believed to be from Sterling Heights, died at the scene.

Police said the car smashed into the store located at Van Dyke Ave. and 14 Mile Road around 4 a.m.

Early reports said the man was traveling at a high rate of speed and may have intentionally struck the building -- but police said they're not sure that led to the crash. Police are following up on some information obtained at the scene, but won't speculate as an investigation continues.

The man's name has not been released.
