BRIGHTON (WWJ) – A tree trimmer was life-flighted to a local hospital after getting pinned by a tree branch that weighed about 2,500 pounds.

Brighton Township Fire Chief Michael O’Brian said the man, who was 50 feet above the ground near Hilton and Flint Streets, was helping a landowner cut down a large oak tree.

“Basically what happened when they were cutting a large branch, probably with about a 18-20 inch diameter, it let loose and pinned him basically in the crook of a tree with these two other large pieces.”

O’Brian said the man suffered some serious injuries, but is expected to be okay.
