Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! Don't let construction activities spoil your plans.

Save yourself some time and hassle by planning your route ahead of time to avoid the following construction areas announced by MDOT.

As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-275:

In Wayne County, northbound and southbound I-275 will have only one lane open at Tyler Road from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday for bridge work. This closure was scheduled for Thursday but was postponed due to weather.

In Wayne County, northbound I-275 will have only one lane open from Palmer to Cherry Hill roads from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday for ongoing construction.

I-696:

In Macomb County, the two-lane ramp eastbound I-696 to eastbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane from 5 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday for shoulder work on I-94.

I-75:

In Oakland County, southbound I-75 will have the right lane closed at Woodward Heights (near 9 Mile Road) daily beginning at 9 a.m. and ending by 3 p.m. starting Thursday, Oct 18 and ending Wednesday, Oct 24 for sign work.

In Wayne County, northbound I-75 will have the right lane closed at Allen Road from 8 p.m. Thursday until midnight Friday. The right and center lanes will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday until midnight Saturday. The lane closures are needed for bridge maintenance.

In Oakland County, southbound I-75 will have two lanes closed from M-15 to Clintonville Road from 9 p.m. Thursday until 6 a.m. Friday, and again from 8 p.m. Friday until 4 p.m. Sunday for pavement repair.

I-94:

In Detroit, the right lane of eastbound I-94 will be closed from Connor to Whittier overnight beginning Friday night and ending Tuesday morning for sign work. The eastbound I-94 exits to Chalmers and Outer Drive will be closed during the same time frames.

In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane between 23 Mile and County Line roads from 9 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday for ongoing road work.

In Wayne County, the right two lanes of westbound I-94 will be closed from Oakwood Boulevard to Pelham Road from 10 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday. From 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, the right lane will be closed. From 3 p.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday, the two right lanes will be closed. The lane closures are needed for ongoing bridge work at the I-94/M-39 interchange.

In Wayne County, the eastbound I-94 ramp to northbound M-39 will be closed from 5 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday for bridge work. A detour will be posted.

In Detroit, there will be intermittent single and double lane closures on eastbound I-94 from Michigan Avenue to M-10, and on westbound I-94 from M-10 to I-96 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday for pavement and bridge work.

In Macomb County, the right lane of eastbound and westbound I-94 will be closed between Masonic Boulevard and 12 Mile Road from 5 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday for shoulder repair. In addition, the ramps to and from both eastbound and westbound I-94 at 12 Mile Road will be closed.

In Wayne County, beginning at 9 p.m. Saturday and ending at 1 a.m. Sunday, the following restrictions will be in place for sign upgrading on I-94:

  • One lane closed on eastbound and westbound I-94 between Middlebelt to Merriman roads
  • One lane closed on the eastbound I-94 ramp to Middlebelt and Merriman roads
  • The ramps to and from westbound I-94 at Middlebelt Road
  • The ramps to and from eastbound I-94 at Vining Road

In Wayne County, the left two lanes of eastbound I-94 will be closed from Telegraph Road to Outer Drive from 5 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday for bridge and pavement repair.

M-1 (Woodward Avenue):

In Oakland County, northbound and southbound M-1 will have a single lane closed between 11 and 14 Mile roads from 4 a.m. until 11 p.m. Friday. Two lanes will be closed in each direction from 11 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday for ongoing pavement repair.

M-39 (Southfield Freeway):

In Detroit, the left lane of northbound and southbound M-39 will be closed between I-96 and 7 Mile Road from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for barrier wall work.

In Wayne County, northbound and southbound M-39 will be reduced to a single lane under I-94 from 5 a.m. Saturday until 9 p.m. Sunday for ongoing work at the I-94/M-39 interchange.

M-10 (Lodge Freeway):

In Detroit, the southbound M-10 ramp to Larned Street will be closed from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Friday for Cobo Center renovation work.

In Detroit, the left lane of northbound M-10 will be closed from Warren to Davison Avenues from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. for lighting inspections.

Due to the Free Press/Talmer Bank Marathon in Detroit on Sunday morning, the following closures have been approved:

  • From 6 a.m. until 9 a.m. Sunday, the northbound I-75 ramp to the Ambassador Bridge
  • From 6 a.m. until 11 a.m. Sunday, the northbound I-75/eastbound I-96 ramp to southbound M-10
  • From 6 a.m. until 11 a.m. Sunday, southbound M-10 will be closed at Howard Street
  • From 6 a.m. until 3 p.m. Sunday, Michigan Avenue will be closed between 6th Street and Campus Martius
  • From 6 a.m. until 3 p.m. Sunday, Fort Street between Rosa Parks Blvd and M-10
