Bullet Fragments Link I-96 Corridor Shootings

PONTIAC (WWJ) - The Oakland County Sheriff's Department reports that there are new developments involving the 22 random shootings that took place in four counties over a 48-hour period last week.

Sketch of suspect in the I-96 Corridor shootings.

Fragments of seven bullets recovered from the scenes in the city of Wixom and Livingston County show they came from the same gun -- but Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard says as of this point, they can't say what kind of gun was used.

"You can't be 100 percent definitive at this point ... it could be a 9mm, a 38, 357; all have similar characteristically in terms of size and grain but there is some belief on what we think it is but forensically we can't say for sure at this point," said Bouchard.

Bouchard says so far they have received over 200 tips. He asks that anyone with information call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
