Nice Fall Day Brings Tee Times For Golfers

DEARBORN HILLS (WWJ) - October weather in Michigan is a crapshoot.

The unseasonably warm weather has Metro Detroit golfers out in force sneaking in one more round of golf while temperatures are near 80 degrees  before cooler weather sweeps in this weekend.

Richard Angelo has been busier than usual booking tee times for the Dearborn Hills municipal golf course.

"We have reserved times already and we have about 150 people who've already reserved times for today," Angelo told WWJ's Ron Dewey. "They've already started at 8 o'clock but the majority of them would be starting at ten o'clock this morning so we're gonna be probably booked by 10:00."

Angelo said that it is unusual for this time in October and it gets dark too early. Unlike during the summer, there were no twilight times.

Golfers told Dewey that they love this kind of weather so late in the month but they didn't believe that Thursday would be the last nice day for being on the links. They still expect to have a few more nice days.

Patrick Brusso of Dearborn said he doesn't usually golf in October but Thursday was an exception.

"I think we got some nice days in November," Brusso said. "If I'm not hunting, I'll be out."

As one golfer told Dewey, he's not going to spend a nice day raking leaves. Nasry Browning of Allen Park said that he got to go home and rake the leaves.

"I just finished cutting the grass and I gotta rake the leaves," Browning said.
