Giants Sweep Tigers, Win The World Series (Postgame Video)

DETROIT (97.1 THE TICKET/AP) - A two-out RBI single by Marco Scutaro broke a three-all tie in the tenth inning and the San Francisco Giants beat the Detroit Tigers 4-3 in Game 4 and sweep the 2012 Major League Baseball World Series four games to none.

As heard on 97.1 The Ticket - the Tigers were held scoreless through 20 innings when Miguel Cabrera hammered a two-run shot off of Cain in the third inning. Cabrera gave the Tigers their first lead in the World Series.

AL Triple Crown winner Cabrera and San Francisco's Buster Posey also homered, marking the first time both reigning batting champions went deep in the same Series game.  (Read related story: Cabrera's Homer Not Enough For Tigers.)

San Francisco's Brandon Belt hit an RBI triple off the right-field wall in the second following a ground-rule double by Hunter Pence. But on a night when the wind was gusting to right field at up to 25 mph, Cabrera put Detroit ahead for the first time in the Series with a wild-blown, two-run drive in the third.

Cabrera's drive, on an 86 mph breaking ball, sailed over Pence who thought he would catch it but ran out of room in front of the right-field wall on the cool, blustery night. It drove in Austin Jackson, who had walked with one out.

With a light rain falling, Marco Scutaro reached on a chopper to third leading off the sixth and, one out later, Max Scherzer hung an 82 mph breaking ball. Posey drove it down the left-field line, where it stayed a few feet fair and landed a couple of rows over the wall for a 3-2 lead.

Delmon Young homered off  Cain in the sixth inning, pulling Detroit into a 3-3 tie with the San Francisco Giants as the Tigers tried to avoid getting swept.

Scutaro delivered one more key hit this October, hitting a go-ahead single with two outs in the 10th inning that lifted the Giants over the Detroit Tigers.

Cabrera struck out to end the game and the series.

In the end the San Francisco Giants sweep the Detroit Tigers and win their second World Series Championship in the past three years.
