Fire At Royal Oak High School

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - Royal Oak High School was evacuated and students were sent home early on Tuesday due to an electrical fire.

Said Royal Oak Fire Captain Tom Kelly, "Initially, a janitor noticed smoke coming from one of the lower levels and pulled the fire alarm. On our arrival we found some light smoke coming from an electrical component room."

Students were taken to the ice arena across the street before they were eventually sent home for the day. Evening classes in the building were also cancelled.

The damage was described as minimal and classes were scheduled to resume again Wednesday.

No injuries were reported.
