DEARBORN HEIGHTS (WWJ) - The unused coats hanging in the back of your dustiest closet may mean nothing to you — but they could be all-important to a family in need.
That’s why the Salvation Army is hosting the 30th Annual Coats for Kids campaign 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the HYPE Recreation Center, 23302 West Warren Avenue, Dearborn Heights.
New and gently used coats in children and adult sizes can be dropped all day at the HYPE Recreation Center. Monetary donations are also being solicited.
The slogan is “Give $25 to keep a kid warm, safe and alive!”
“During these difficult economic times, The Salvation Army has experienced an increasingly high demand for its services, especially during the winter months,” the Salvation Army said in a press release. “Over the past five years, Coats for Kids has provided thousands of winter coats to help keep metro Detroit kids warm and safe throughout the winter.”
