U-M, MSU Football Fans Divided Among Party Lines

DETROIT (97.1 The Ticket)  As the world waits with baited breath to find out if Barack Obama or Mitt Romney will lead the United States of America, another important matter is being debated.

It involves Spartans and Wolverines.

The Wall Street Journal had sports poll firm Public Policy Polling ask Democrats and Republicans in 15 states with major college football rivalries which school is their favorite.

After compiling two years worth of data they got the answer in Michigan — And it turns out Walmart Republicans and Walmart Wolverines don’t have as much in common as one would think.

  • For Republicans: 44 percent favor the Spartans, and 29 percent gave the Wolverines their vote.
  • For Democrats: 54 percent favor the Wolverines, and a paltry 25 percent prefer the Spartans.

See the entire chart HERE, and let us know in comments below: Why do more Democrats prefer the Wolverines while the Republicans cast their  ballot for the Spartans?
