Electrochemical Society Sets Nov. 15 Seminar: The Electrochemical Society Detroit Section will host a seminar Thursday, Nov. 15 on "Electrodeposition as a Versatile Tool for the Fabrication of Three-Dimensional Lithium-ion Rechargeable Batteries," featuring professor Amy Prieto of Colorado State University's department of chemistry. The meeting will begin with a 5:30 p.m. reception, with dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the program at 7:30. The venue is Room 406 of the Taubman Welcome Center at Lawrence Technological University, 21000 W. 10 Mile Road, Southfield. Software Management Essentials for Every Organization: Organizations of all types benefit from strong policies and practices around software asset management, an issue that touches most aspects of information technology. This month Merit Network Inc. of Ann Arbor welcomes back LicenseLogic of Washington, D.C. to lead three classes on the practice of software asset management and software audit preparation. Merit Member organizations can attend at very significant savings, well below the usual price of these classes. The scholarship deadline for these classes has been extended to Tuesday, Nov, 13. CSM+ Foundation, on Nov. 28, starts with a solid background on copyright law and piracy and goes on to demonstrate how your organization can develop, communicate and execute an effective software asset management plan. CSM+ SAM Planning, on Nov. 29, builds upon the Foundation course by delving into the logistics and methods of instituting your software asset management plan. CSM+ Software Auditing, on Nov. 30, deals with the realities of a software audit. You will learn trends in software auditing, the components of an audit, the steps in organizing a response, and how to strengthen your organization's ongoing compliance practices. The classes will be held at Merit Network's offices at 1000 Oakbrook Drive, Suite 200, Ann Arbor. Class each day will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude by 5 p.m. Merit members can attend CSM+ Foundation for $549. Attend both CSM+ Foundation and CSM+ SAM Planning for $999. Or attend all three courses for $1,399. Non-members may attend for the courses' standard prices of $795 for CSM+ Foundation and $695 each for CSM+ SAM Planning and CSM+ Software Auditing.
