Man’s Body Found Burning Atop Detroit Utility Pole

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) – A man has been found dead and on fire atop an electrical utility pole on Detroit’s west side.

A concerned citizen called police after spotting the man on the pole at Sunderland Road and St. Martins Avenue on Friday.

Detroit Police Sgt. Eren Stephens told The Detroit Free Press it’s not clear if the man was “trying to steal, trying to fix something.”

The man was not been immediately identified. An autopsy was pending.
