Grandmother Dies In House Fire After Leading Grandsons To Safety

LIVONIA (AP) - A 73-year old woman, watching her grandsons, died in a house fire.

Doris Wilson was spending the night at her son's house in Livonia, when the fire broke out, early Tuesday morning.

After discovering the fire, she helped the boys out a window and onto a roof, where they were rescued, but she was unable to get out of the house.

Alton Wilson told Fox 2 News, his wife, Doris, did what she could to save those boys:

"The Lord called her home, I guess ... she done what she could do," her husband said.

Brian Chapman is a friend of the family. He told Fox 2 News that Doris Wilson would do anything to help people:

"She never thought of herself, ever, so it doesn't surprise me that I'm sure the first thing on her mind and the only thing on her mind was to get those grandkids out," Chapman said.

Investigators believe the fire started on the main floor of the house, and was accidental.
