Macomb County Christmas Market Returns Big For This Year

MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ) - For this year, Macomb County's Christmas market is getting bigger and better.

The Anton Art Center is decking the halls and the walls, transforming into a handmade holiday shopping mecca known as the annual Christmas Market, which will run from Nov. 16, 2012 to Dec. 22, 2012.  "All That Glitters" is the theme of this year's market.

For more than 30 years, the Anton Art Center has held the annual Christmas Market, offering shoppers a wide variety of handmade goods perfect for the holiday gift giving season.  The Christmas Market also serves as a major fundraiser for the center's operating budget.

This year's Christmas Market will showcase the work of over 120 artists, with over 40 new to the event.  Since nearly all of artisans included in the Christmas Market are from Michigan, shopping the market also supports the local artist community.

Some notable 2012 Christmas Market artists include Philip Ruehle, Fine oil painting emerging artist; Connie Sochacki, Whimsical fiber figures; Jonie Ugelow, Signature style pottery; Linda Petros, Unique hand-crafted Santas of collector quality; and more.

A wide variety of merchandise is available for purchase at the Christmas Market including two and three dimensional decorative and functional art.  Media represented includes oil and acrylic painting, drawing, fiber, pottery, glass, paper, culinary delicacies, and much more.

With art ranging in price from five dollars to five hundred dollars, shoppers will find unique one-of-a-kind gifts within their budget for everyone on their shopping lists.

The Anton Art Center is open Tuesday through Thursday, 10:00 a.m. until 5 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., Sunday, 12 p.m. until 4 p.m., closed Monday.  The center is closed to the public, November 21 and November 22, 2012.
