Turkey Emergency? Butterball Talk-Line Can Help

DETROIT (WWJ) - Once again this year, the Butterball Turkey Talk Line is open to help people with their last-minute emergency questions about turkeys. Marge Klindera has been a Butterball expert for three years, and says one question always pops up.

"Our number one question year after year ... always has to do with thawing - people just do not understand how long it takes to thaw a turkey. And we do have an answer; for every four pounds of turkey you need one full day in the refrigerator," said Klindera.

Marge does say that it's not too late to thaw your bird. If you need to, leave the turkey in its bag and submerge it in cold water. That way takes 30 minutes per pound.

Klindera has been giving advice for three years, and says some people do the darndest things.

"The woman was storing her frozen turkey in the snow bank, outside, but unfortunately overnight it snowed again. And then she couldn't find her turkey," Klindera laughed. "How she thought we were going to help her find it I don't know."

Marge couldn't help her find her turkey, but told her to call back when she bought the next one. All the information about the Turkey Talk Line is available HERE or call 1-800-BUTTERBALL .
