SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) – Conditions have improved, but it was a snowy icy start Sunday morning throughout metro Detroit with many accidents.

Road Commission for Oakland County Salt Truck Driver Sedric Cooper stopped by the Salt Yard in Southfield to reload his truck.

Cooper said it was icy and slippery but they’ve had a full complement of trucks out on the roadways.

“Freeways, the state and primary (roads) …” said Cooper. “Too many of them driving too fast – they’ve just got to slow down.”

Cooper says he’s seen several accidents because drivers were going too fast for the conditions. He also asks that you give salt trucks a wide berth on the roadways.
