MAREC Hosting Live Webcast Of Gov. Snyder's Energy, Environment Message

MUSKEGON -- Grand Valley State University's Michigan Alternative Renewable Energy Center will host a live webcast Wednesday, Nov. 28 of Gov. Rick Snyder's message on Michigan's vision for energy and the environment.

MAREC is one of two locations in Michigan chosen by Snyder's office to virtually host his presentation; the other location is Detroit's NextEnergy Center.

Snyder will deliver his message from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the W.K. Kellogg Biological Station in Hickory Corners. The live webcast at MAREC will be hosted on a Google+ Hangout, an online video chat that can accommodate multiple participants. A representative from Snyder's office will be available at MAREC to answer questions following the presentation.

Arn Boezaart, director of MAREC, said this is an anticipated message.

"Since Gov. Synder has been in office, he has not yet spoken publicly about energy and the environment, so this will be his first statement on both topics," said Boezaart. "There are a lot of people who are interested in what he has to say."

The virtual viewing at MAREC is open to the public, including community members and Grand Valley students, faculty and staff members. One guest at MAREC will be selected to ask Snyder a question sometime between 11-11:20 a.m.

Individuals who are unable to attend the event, but still wish to view the message, can visit www.livestream.com/snyderlive; viewers can log on around 10:15 a.m. Nov. 28.
