Detroit Baby Found Dead, Possibly Suffocated

DETROIT (WWJ) - An autopsy will be performed on a 5-month-old Detroit girl whose death is believed to be an accident.

Police told WWJ Newsradio 950 the child was found "unresponsive" Thursday in her home on Rochester Road, near Chicago street, on the city's west side. The girl was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

TV station WXYT reported, according to family members,  the baby suffocated on a plastic bag that was left in the house.

Officials do not believe foul play is involved, but they are awaiting the autopsy results to confirm that it was indeed an accident. The autopsy that is set for Friday morning.
