Ferndale Businesses Targeted By Phone Scammer

FERNDALE (WWJ) - Area businesses in Ferndale are being warned by police: look out for a phone scam.

Police tell WWJ, a man has stopped by several local businesses, saying he has to use the phone because he's having some car trouble.

Instead of calling for a tow, he somehow call-forwards the business number to another line to make a call overseas, racking up a big bill.

He's described as a white man in his 30's,  he had some blood on his shirt and a cut on his eyebrow.

Anyone who spots him is being asked to call the Ferndale Police Department at (248) 541-3650.
