Ford Recalls Newly Launched 2013 Escape

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - It's the fourth recall of the newly launched 2013 escape.

Engine fires are prompting the latest recall of the popular SUVs and it also applies to Fusion sedans. The voluntary recall affects about 89,000 2013 models with 1.6 liter engines sold in the U.S. and Canada. It follows a dozen fire incidents in the Escape and one in the Fusion.

WWJ Auto analyst John McElroy says this is the fourth Escape recall in four months, but one the company could not wait on.

"When you start seeing problems like this in the field on multiple vehicles you've got to jump on it immediately," said McElroy. "This is a pretty serious recall."

No injuries have been reported.
