MMTC 'Proud to Manufacture in Michigan' Campaign Gets 100th Participant

PLYMOUTH -- Launched in mid-August by the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center, the social media campaign of Proud to Manufacture in Michigan has secured its 100th manufacturer participant.

MMTC is the Michigan affiliate of Manufacturing Extension Partnership through the National Institute of Standards and Technology and is headquartered in Plymouth. MMTC has regional offices located in Grand Rapids, Marquette Saginaw and Traverse City.

"Having E&D Engineering Systems join the Proud to Manufacture in Michigan group took MMTC over the 100th participant threshold," said Kelly Knapp of the MMTC.

E&D Engineering Systems was founded in 2003 and quickly has become a leader in mold building and machining for injection and vacuum plastic molding. Located in Gladwin County, E&D serves customers in the industrial sectors of aerospace and defense, food, medical devices, electronics, and pharmaceuticals.

"The locally owned company proudly touts on their Web site that everything they do is made in the U.S.A. and joining the Michigan campaign seemed fitting," Knapp said.

"Our activity to raise the awareness of the important role manufacturing plays in our regional and national economies is time and effort well spent," said MMTC president Mike Coast. "Other MEP centers have launched social media sites and I'm proud to say that ours reached the 100th participant benchmark twice as fast."

MMTC can be found in Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. The MMTC Web site can be found at www.mmtc.org.
