HAZEL PARK (WWJ) - An 11-year old Hazel Park boy is hospitalized after he was hit by a truck.

Police say the boy was at John R at 9 Mile Road around 5:40 p.m. Thursday when he tried to run across John R. He was struck by a truck that couldn’t stop in time.

The boy was taken to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital where he was last listed in critical but stable condition.

The 69-year old man driving the truck stopped at the scene and was interviewed by police. He was uninjured.

An investigation is ongoing.
