Pat Caputo: Three Reasons Michigan And Michigan State Will Likely Struggle In Their Bowl Games

By: Pat Caputo

1. Michigan's opposition, South Carolina, is from the SEC, the strongest conference in the country. MSU's opponent, TCU, is from the Big 12, the second toughest conference in the nation.
2. Both the Wolverines and Spartans have unsettled situations at quarterback. Michigan is because of the Denard Robinson-Devin Gardner situation (is Robinson healthy enough to throw the football, and if so will he start?) and MSU because Andrew Maxwell's play this season has been spotty at best.
3. Michigan began the season ranked eighth nationally, the Spartans 13th. Both teams have badly underachieved compared to that standard.
