Busted: Motorist Crashes Into Pot Growing Operation

OAKLAND COUNTY (WWJ) – A two-car accident turns into a marijuana investigation. The Oakland County Sheriff’s office says two vehicles crashed on Sunnyside Drive, near I-75, in Independence Township Sunday morning.

One of the cars crashed into a home and damaged the gas meter. Officials say the fire department and Consumers Energy went into the house to check the inner gas line and found an elaborate marijuana-growing operation in the basement.

Police say the 26-year-old homeowner returned home during the search warrant process and was arrested.

Among the items recovered at the home was a marijuana grow manual and about four pounds of marijuana.
