Woman Steals 'Phallic' Toy, Flees

DEARBORN HEIGHTS (CBS Detroit) Police said a woman stole a "tan-colored phallic toy" Sunday at Cirilla's, 6858 N. Telegraph Road. And it's apparently not an isolated incident.

The manager told police the woman came into the store and asked questions about various bits of merchandise at the store that markets lingerie, fantasy games and toys for adults.

The woman in question picked up the phallic toy, apparently to inspect it.  And when the manager turned her back, the woman ran out of the store with the object, which was priced at $40, police said.

The perpetrator got into a metallic brown four-door car and fled. A staffer got the license plate number, but police said it didn't match the car's description.

The thief is a black woman, about 30 years old, 5 feet 5 inches tall and 180 pounds. Police said they had no comment on the incident, but a staffer said she stole a model called the Latino Lover.

"It happens all the time, some of the stuff they take surprises you, it really just amazes, they'll steal the tester that hundreds of hands have been on," said Brian Gerhardt, store manager.

He added they used to put alarms on display items, but that wasn't enough of a deterrant.

"We've chained them down and people still take them," Gerhardt said.
