Mike Valenti On BCS 'Watch It At Home'

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) Should fans spend thousands of dollars to see their favorite team play in an NCAA Bowl Championship Series game?

Not if they're smart, according to Mike Valenti, who lashed out at the BCS on the Valenti & Foster show Thursday on 97.1 The Ticket.

"Why do we continue to support this garbage (by buying tickets)? Watch it at home," he said.

Valenti savaged the BCS following a report eight bowls had game attendance drop 10 percent.

Is it high ticket prices, too many games, a bad economy? Co-host Terry Foster said, "there are too many bowls that mean nothing."

Why would any self-respecting fan pay to go to a Gator Bowl? Valenti asked, adding any bowl game other than the Rose Bowl or the BCS title game is meaningless, a waste of time and money.

"If I was going to do it, I would never do it through the school, I'll get better seats through the secondary market," Valenti said. "Would you pay full price to see the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl? I sure as hell wouldn't spend $1,000 going to that lousy game."

The Michigan State Spartans are playing in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl in Phoenix.

So, would you pay to see it? Let us know in comments below.
