100 With Diabetes Sought For 'Wellness Empowers' Program

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) - A local organization is looking to help 100 low-income metro Detroiters with Type Two Diabetes.

The Jewish Family Services program "Wellness Empowers" aims to help people eat better and exercise more without breaking the bank.

"We're kind of rolling off at the beginning of the new year -- hopefully a good time for lots of people who are saying, hmm, boy, this is my resolution  I want to change," said Shaindle Braunstein, who created the year-long program.  "But, as we all know, it's easy to say that -- it's not necessarily easy to do it."
