Bashara Will Begin Prison Sentence In Isolation

DETROIT (WWJ) - After pleading guilty to soliciting the murder of the "handy man" accused of murdering his wife, Bob Bashara will reportedly begin his prison sentence isolated from other inmates. The Corrections Department making that announcement Friday.

Bashara was sentenced last week to 6 to 20 years in prison after trying to arrange the murder of Joe Gentz, the man accused of murdering Bashara's wife, Jane, last January. Gentz contends he did so at Bob Bashara's direction.

Bashara, 55, said he was "truly and humbly sorry" for trying to have his former employee, Joseph Gentz, killed in jail. "What I did was inexcusable, and I have no one to blame but myself," he said.

Gentz, meantime, is facing murder and conspiracy charges after reportedly telling police he was hired by Bashara to kill Jane Bashara, whose body was found in her Mercedes-Benz SUV parked in an alley at a Detroit alley on Jan. 25.
