DETROIT (CBS Detroit) Ouch. ESPN got an exclusive sneak preview of the 2013 batting practice hats for Major League Baseball teams.

And the review of the Tigers’ new hat design wasn’t exactly flattering.

For the first time, the front panel of the hat for home play is pure white — with a contrasting blue brim. The first reviewer found them basically repellent.

“Just the thought of Jim Leyland wearing this is embarrassing,” the ESPN reviewer wrote.

The away game hat is gray and blue. Both hats earned a “C-” on the ESPN report card. The only team that earned an “A+” was the Astros, which features the color of tequila sunrise and a swanky logo.
