Caught On Camera: Man Beats Store Owner, Steals Jewelry

REDFORD (WWJ) – Redford police are looking for a man who beat a jewelry store owner before robbing the business in an attack that was captured by security cameras.

The incident happened at the Fantasy Jewelers store, located inside the Kroger Store on Telegraph Road, around 1:15 p.m. Thursday.

Investigators say the suspect walked into the store and beat the 53-year-old store owner before smashing a glass case and stealing jewelry.

The man took off running after the robbery and the victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a black male in his early 20’s, approximately 6’ to 6’2” with short black hair, a thin mustache and a small amount of hair on his chin. He was wearing a light blue hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans and light-colored shoes at the time.
