Man Allegedly Stabs Wife, Tries To Set House Ablaze With Kids Inside

BRANDON TWP. (CBS Detroit) An Oakland County man is behind bars after police said he stabbed his wife and tried to set their house on fire while their two kids were inside at about 9 p.m Thursday.

Deputies who were first to arrive at the home at Varsity and Edward Streets in Brandon Township said they found a woman who was stabbed in the chest. She told officers her husband also tried to burn down the home, but she was able to put the fire out before it spread.

The woman was described as having a "non-life threatening" wound to her chest. Two children, aged four and five, were at the home but unhurt, police said. They were  turned over to relatives.

The 35-year-old suspect was "aggressive" when police arrived, and deputies said they had to use a Taser to subdue him. Attempted murder charges are pending.
