Snow Creates Slow, Slick Weekend Travel

DETROIT (WWJ) - A light snowfall overnight created snow-covered and slick roads throughout metro Detroit. Crews have been out since early Saturday clearing the roads.

Cindy Dingell is with Wayne County's department of public services and has advice for drivers.

"Slow down, be very cautious out there today, both hands on the wheel," cautioned Dingell. "Pad some extra time into your commute if you have to be anywhere."

Dingell said some of the side roads are quite rough and advised people to be extra careful on bridges and overpasses.

Road Commission for Oakland County spokesman Craig Bryson said they have been having one problem.

"We are seeing a lot of contractors pushing snow from commercial establishments, parking lots and drive-ways out into the road," he said. "We just want to remind people that's an illegal thing to do and it creates a safety issue ... they are creating big piles of snow back out into lanes of traffic."
