DETROIT (AP) – A 26-year-old Detroit woman is charged with felony murder in the stabbing death of her 8-year-old daughter in their home.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced the charge Wednesday against Semeria Greene.
Detroit police responding to a 911 call found Tameria Greene unresponsive early Sunday morning on the floor of the family’s near east side apartment. The girl had been stabbed in the chest and pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital.
Demeria Greene also is charged with first-degree child abuse. She is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday afternoon in 36th District Court.
It wasn’t immediately known whether she had a lawyer.
A conviction on the murder charge carries a maximum penalty of life in prison without parole. The child abuse charge carries a maximum 15-year prison sentence.
