Prosecutor Reviews Charges In Child's Stabbing Death
DETROIT (AP) — The Wayne County prosecutor's office is reviewing a police request for charges in the stabbing of a girl found dead in her home near downtown Detroit.
An autopsy has found that the girl died of a single stab wound to the chest. Detroit police have arrested the girl's 26-year-old mother.
Reports have given the girl's age as 8 or 9. She was found dead Sunday at her home just east of downtown Detroit.
The Detroit Free Press says police found the mother performing CPR on the girl in the living room. It says the dead girl's 7-, 4-, 2- and 1-year-old brothers are in foster care.
