Police: Man Offered To Help Couple Before Sexual Assault

DETROIT (WWJ) – Police are searching for a man suspected of offering to help a couple in a stalled vehicle on Detroit’s east side before sexually assaulting one of them.

Police say a 55-year-old woman and her 63-year-old husband were in their vehicle Tuesday near the intersection of Findlay and Dresden when a man approached them and offered assistance.

After a short conversation, the suspect produced a weapon and demanded money before forcing himself onto the woman and sexually assaulting her, police said. The suspect then fled the area.

The woman was treated at a local hospital and released. Her husband wasn’t injured.

The suspect is described as a black male, age 25-30, about 5’8″ with a stocky build, medium-dark complexion, light mustache and light beard. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black baseball hat with an orange bill, a black sweatshirt under a dark blue coat, dark blue jeans and dirty, white gym shoes.

Police have released a composite sketch of the suspect in hopes the public will come forward with any tips on his identity.
