Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - While major road construction projects have wrapped up for the winter season, some road closures are still planned for minor work over the next few days.

The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-75:

In Oakland County, intermittent single lane closures on northbound and southbound I-75, between Baldwin Road and M-15, starting at 9 a.m. and ending by 3 p.m. daily until mid-January for soil testing work. No work will be scheduled on weekends.

In Detroit, overnight double lane closures on southbound I-75 from Livernois Avenue to Green Street starting at 9 p.m. and ending by 5 a.m. the next morning beginning Sunday and ending Wednesday for utility work.

I-94:

In Detroit/Wayne County, overnight single lane closures on eastbound I-94, from French Road to 8 Mile Road, and on westbound I-94, from Outer Drive to French Road, starting at 9 p.m. and ending by 5 a.m. on weekdays beginning Friday, Jan. 4 and ending in mid-Jan for lighting and sign upgrading work. On Saturday and Sunday morning, the single lane closure will be lifted at 9 a.m.

M-97 (Groesbeck Highway):

In Macomb County, ongoing intermittent single lane closures on northbound and southbound M-97, between Hayes and 14 Mile roads, daily starting at 10 a.m. and ending by 3 p.m. until the end of January for signal upgrading work.

Beginning the week of Monday, Jan. 7:

I-75:

In Detroit, the left lane of northbound I-75 will be closed from I-94 to Davison Avenue from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. daily on Monday and Tuesday for sign upgrading work.

In Detroit, the right lane of the existing two lane ramp from southbound I-75 to I-94 will be closed from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. daily on Monday and Tuesday for sign upgrading work.
