Race Horse Tests Positive For Equine Herpes Virus

GENESEE COUNTY (AP) G- State Agriculture officials say a horse that raced last month at a Genesee County track has tested positive for equine herpes virus. Officials say the horse displayed symptoms of the virus after a Dec. 22 race at the Sports Creek Raceway, near Flint.

The disease poses no harm to humans but can cause miscarriages, partial paralysis and death in horses.

The infected horse has been quarantined at a private stable.
