Contempt Charge Dropped Against Cursing Woman

BERRIEN COUNTY (WWJ) – A Michigan judge has tossed out a contempt charge against a woman who got in trouble for cursing in a courthouse.

The Berrien County Trial Court Judge dismissed the charge, today, against 49-year-old LaRue Ford. She was charged with contempt after a clerk heard her use a profanity while trying to take care of an old traffic ticket on Dec. 4th in southwestern Michigan.

Ford says she’s pleased to have the misdemeanor behind her, referring to the past month as “grueling” and “tiring.”

Ford was charged with contempt and jailed Dec. 18 after her bond was revoked because she could not show a permanent address in Indiana.
