DETROIT (WWJ) - A high school basketball game ends in terror after a 16-year-old is shot.

The shooting took place Friday night at Osborn High School, near 7 Mile Road and Hoover Street on Detroit’s east side, following a game against East English Village Preparatory Academy.

After the game was over, several people stuck around and struck up a pick-up game across the street in a field off school property, according to police.

Sgt. Eren Stephens said a physical altercation occurred at some point and shots were fired. Stephens said a 16-year-old boy received a gunshot wound to the body. He was taken to the hospital and was last listed in temporary-serious condition.

Police say they talked to several witnesses after the shooting, but no arrests have been made.

An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Detroit Police Criminal Investigations at 313-596-1340 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
