MONROE — Monroe County Community College has signed transfer articulation agreements that will help its students make a smooth transition to two universities.

An agreement with Eastern Michigan University will enable students to transfer up to 74 credits from MCCC’s information assurance and security program toward the bachelor of science degree program in information assurance at EMU.

Students will need to fulfill the requirements for the associate of applied science and the Michigan Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers agreement.

MCCC’s associate of applied science degree in computer information systems with a program designation of information assurance specialist was launched in the fall.  It is designed to provide students with the foundational skills needed for an entry-level position supporting corporate computer and network security operations.

A  “2+2” agreement with Michigan Technological University will allow students earning an associate degree in mechanical engineering technology at MCCC to complete the first two years of an MTU bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering technology while at MCCC.

Students will need to maintain a 2.75 or higher GPA in all of the applicable classes and a demonstrate proficiency in math and science. They must apply to MTU one year prior to their anticipated enrollment and indicate that they enrolled in the program at MCCC and request participation in the program at MTU.

MCCC’s associate of applied science degree program with specialization in mechanical engineering technology prepares students for entry-level employment in positions that support technical and engineering activities in business and industry, such as mechanical engineering technician, product designer, field technician, test technician, basic machinist, research and development technician, and technical sales representative.
