DETROIT (WWJ) – The North American Car and Truck of the Year are the Cadillac ATS and the Ram 1500 pickup.
The Cadillac ATS beat out the Ford Fusion and the Honda Accord. This is the first time Cadillac has taken home the award, obviously a proud day for the ATS’ chief engineer, Dave Leone.
“You know, when you consider Cadillac’s objective to re-establish itself as a standard of the world, this is a very important moment; very meaningful, and deeply appreciated by all of us,” Leon said.
On the truck side — now referred to as truck utility — the Ram 1500, formerly the Dodge Ram, had won this award once before. It beat the Ford C-Max and the Mazda CX5.
The awards are voted on by a jury of automotive journalists; that jury includes WWJ Auto Beat Reporter Jeff Gilbert and WWJ Automotive Analyst John McElroy.
