Cleveland State Pulls Away From Detroit 74-62

CLEVELAND (AP) — Bryn Forbes posted career-highs with 21 points and five 3-pointers to help Cleveland State hold off Detroit 74-62 Saturday in Horizon League play.

Tim Kamczyc added 15 points and Sebastian Douglas 11 for Cleveland State. Forbes scored 19 of his 21 points in the first half and Cleveland State shot 57.1 percent (16 of 28) in the period to take a 43-35 lead into the break.

The Vikings (10-8, 2-2) extended their lead to 60-45 behind a Kamczyc layup and led by as much as 16, 68-52, after Forbes converted two free throws.

Cleveland State and Detroit (11-6, 3-1) each committed 15 turnovers but the Vikings scored 16 points off those errors, compared to the Titans' seven.

Cleveland State, which shot below 40 percent in three of its last four games, hit 51.9 percent (28 of 54) from the field.

Ray McCallum's 22 led Detroit.
