Police Investigate Infant Deaths In Wayne County

ALLEN PARK (WWJ) – Police are looking into the deaths of two babies Wayne County.

Police in Allen Park said they are investigating after a 6-month-old boy was found dead in a room at the Allen Park Motor Lodge, a motel near Southfield and Dix Highway. Police said they do not believe it was a case of the mother falling asleep and accidentally suffocating her child.

Separately, in Dearborn, police are looking into the death of a 1-month-old girl.

The Wayne County Medical Examiner’s office is performing an autopsy on both babies to determine cause of death.

Three babies have been found dead in the metro Detroit in as many days.  A 4-week-old child was found dead Sunday in Pontiac. Investigators said, in this case, the mother was drinking, fell asleep, and accidentally smothered her baby.
