The Guy Allegedly Behind The Te’o Hoax Tried To Make It On “The Voice”
Things are still very unclear in the Manti Te’o story. Who is to blame? Who knew what, when? One name was pushed out there very early. The Deadspin article pointed the finger at a guy named Ronaiah Tuiasosopo. He has connections to Te’o AND the girl whose picture was used as the face of the fake profile. Tuiasosopo had football ambitions, and, according to “Us” magazine, he had music dreams as well. He and his cousin tried out for “The Voice” and they used a similar sob story to the Manti situation to try and garner sympathy from the judges.
An insider told “Us” that Ronaiah told “The Voice” producers “he and his cousins started a Christian band together, and were on their way to perform at a youth conference in Nevada when they got into a ‘massive’ car accident.” He said a truck crashed into their vehicle, which sent them “flip-flopping all over the freeway.” Tuiasosopo also said doctors initially thought one of them might be brain-dead, but miraculously, everyone was fine. Now producers are wondering if that story was a lie.
The audition was for this upcoming season, and Ronaiah did get to sing in front of the judges but none of them turned their chairs around. If his audition gets cut from the episode, you can still get an idea of RT’s chops by watching the YouTube’s he recorded with his cousin.
