2013 North American International Auto Show In Detroit Now Open To Public

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - The wait is finally over! The public gets the chance to check out the North American International Auto Show starting this weekend.

The annual event at downtown Detroit's Cobo Center opens to the public Saturday, following preview days for press and auto industry officials. Public days at the Auto Show run from Jan. 19 through Jan. 27.

Car companies are unveiling 59 new cars and concepts. That's up from just 41 in 2012, a sign that automakers have more profits at their disposal and expect higher sales.

The Corvette is a top attraction from General Motors. Toyota, Nissan and Mercedes have larger, more elaborate displays. Ford, Chrysler and others also are seeking to lure buyers at the show.
