LANSING (AP) – Hundreds of people are gathering outside the Michigan Capitol for a gun-rights rally, on the heels of President Barack Obama’s call for new restrictions. Some people are freely carrying guns at the event.
Many supporters brandishing signs that say gun bans are ineffective and illegal and only punish law-abiding citizens.
Obama is asking Congress to pass an assault-weapons ban, universal background checks and limits on high-capacity ammunition magazines.
